As a member of the generation that fought for title lX and a former collegiate athlete, I’m horrified at the situation that is currently taking place in the NCAA. I remember when it was AIAW and women were not allowed to participate in the NCAA. We cannot allow women’s athletics to be diminished in this way. I recently retired from USA swimming coaching after a solid 30 years of participation. I want my swimmers to have all the opportunities they could possibly have. Many of my former female swimmers have gone on to swim in colleges in Scholarship based programs. If this continues, there will not be any scholarships available for future female athletes.
