I had two brothers and no sisters. My daughter has two brothers and no sisters. For she and I both, being in a sorority (I was in Kappa Alpha Theta) was a chance to understand what it’s like to share space with fellow young women who bring a completely different perspective and vibe than boys.
It’s a chance to have female support and feel uplifted. A chance to develop into the young woman who thrives with the love and uniquely female support of sisters. Changing with cultural tides is not always the best option. Sororities and the women in them deserve to have that affirming space without men in the mix. That’s what fraternities are for.
