I held a pro license in cross-country mountain biking & cyclo-cross in Ohio from 2008 – 2015 and follow all forms of cycling. I also had to fight with race directors to create a women’s category because there wasn’t one when I first started racing in 2000–we had to race with men.
After watching transgender-identifying “Rachel” McKinnon win the 2018 UCI World Championships in Track Cycling, I was furious. He was clearly much bigger than the natural-born women who placed 2nd and 3rd. I was appalled that USA Cycling or UCI would allow a natural-born male compete in the women’s category that we worked so hard to get.
